F5 Maintenance Dec 21, 2010

Customer Impact:

On Tuesday, 12/21, GoGrid engineers will be performing the second and final step to upgrade the hardware and OS of our GoGrid load balancer cluster.  This maintenance impacts GoGrid customers with active F5 load balancers only.


Maintenance Details:

The GoGrid Network team is performing a hardware and OS upgrade on our GoGrid load balancer cluster.  Customer with active F5 VIPs may lose connectivity between the their F5 VIP and cloud servers up to two times during the maintenance window for two minute each time.  In addition, throughout the entire time of the maintenance period, GoGrid F5 adds, edits, or deletes submitted via the GoGrid portal or API will not be processed.

Network Issues Reported - Resolved

Starting approximately 4:45 pm PST, GoGrid experienced an inbound DDOS attack. While our DDOS mitigation guard severely limited the impact of the DDOS attack on our network, several customers still reported issues. The DDOS attack was fully resolved at 18:00pm PST and traffic to our network is back at normal levels.

GoGrid is adding network modules to our core routers in our US-East-1 site.

The modules are hot swappable, and there should be no impact on our network operations. If a problem does occur as a result of the module insertion, it could cause up 30 seconds of routing instability as traffic fails over to to the other router in the redundant pair.

Issues reported with servers starts/restarts

GoGrid Support has received several reports of servers failing to come back online after restarting.  This can include hard restarts from the portal, soft reboots from the servers themselves, and restarts during the deployment process for new servers.

Our engineers are investigating, but have not yet identified the root cause.  We will update this status blog as more information becomes available.  In the interim, please contact our support via case, chat, or call if you are affected by this problem and need assistance getting a server back online.

Expired SSL certificate on api.gogrid.com

The SSL certificate for api.gogrid.com expired yesterday.  We are working to get it renewed and hope to have the problem resolved within 24 hours.  Calls the the GoGrid API will still work correctly in the meantime if the client is configured to accept the expired certificate.  We apologize for the inconvenience.


This issue has been resolved. The SSL certificate on api.gogrid.com is now up to date. Please let us know if you experience any further issues with this.
