Emergency Infrastructure Maintenance Update

Over the past weekend, 6/16/12-6/17/12, GoGrid successfully performed proactive emergency maintenance to a segment of core systems in response to recent security advisories regarding how various operating systems interact with the Intel chip architecture.  Implicated systems identified are Xen as well as a number of bare metal operating systems including FreeBSD, NetBSD and some versions of Microsoft Windows.  GoGrid took decisive action to ensure the continued security and safety of our customers.

This was a critical measure to safeguard the strength and security of the GoGrid platform. The process involved applying patches and then restarting applicable GoGrid host nodes incrementally. Per GoGrid’s standard operating procedure, as these nodes were rebooted, Virtual Machines (VMs) on these nodes had to be restarted. Although most VM restarts were successful, some VMs may require additional attention. Our Support team is working diligently to investigate any reports of service irregularities.

GoGrid Emergency Infrastructure Maintenance – 2012-06-16 and 2012-06-17

GoGrid will be performing core system upgrades from Saturday, 6/16 to Sunday, 6/17. Notification has already been sent. You can also log in and check for maintenance notifications in the Support section of the GoGrid portal to see if your servers are among those affected.

UPDATE:
Node Maintenance between 9:00-11:00 PDT (GMT-7) have been extended to 13:00 PDT (GMT-7)
Node Maintenance between 11:00-13:00 PDT (GMT-7) have been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later time. We will send out emails with rescheduled times later today.
All other maintenances will proceed as planned.

Add, delete, and modify jobs for cloud servers in the US-East1 data center may experience a processing delay of up to 60 minutes during this maintenance window. Cloud Storage DNS service will be offline for up to 60 minutes, resulting in some customers temporarily losing the ability to create new mounts to Cloud Storage in the US-East1 data center. We do not anticipate any interruption of service or loss of access to your existing cloud servers, dedicated servers, network services or existing Cloud Storage file shares during this period.
