GoGrid continues to closely monitor the effect of Storm Sandy on business and daily life in the Eastern United States. Our sincerest thoughts and good wishes go out to everyone affected by this devastating storm.
The GoGrid Data Center in Ashburn, VA, was fully prepared for the event, ensuring that our employees remain safe, our facilities secure, and our communications consistent. Our network providers and data-center operators have topped off generator fuel tanks and make-up water tanks and stored multiple days of fuel on-site. The data center is under normal operations, which includes stable utility power and no signs of any water damage. If a building needs to shift to emergency generators, provisions for the delivery of additional fuel are in place.
We’ve also received updates from Zayo (formerly known as AboveNet), one of the many network providers for all 3 of our data center locations. Zayo has reported multiple fiber cuts and service interruption in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York regions, where they’re currently running on generator backup. Our ongoing monitoring has not shown interruptions or degradation of service on any of our networks at this time; however, we continue to actively monitor the situation.
